Updates, a year later....

That's right folks - it's been almost a year since our last post and a lot has happened!

Season One is complete, and has been turned into a 60 minute featurette. You can view this short film by CLICKING HERE

After being on a little bit of a hiatus over the winter, Jeff and I are back and ready for more action. We are in the process of working out what Season Two might hold, but we NEED YOUR HELP!

Things are getting out of hand...

Hello again everyone!

Since my last post in March, things just keep getting more and more intense. Jeff and I went to visit Brian Stephens of Stephens Logging and ended up witnessing something both strange and a little bit scary...

A few days later we traveled back to Vernonia to get some answers from some Old Timer loggers, who took us to the 'Logger's Museum' and showed us a piece from the 'collection' that made me want to sleep with the lights on for the next few nights...

And if that wasn't enough, not long after that Jeff got a call from Linda (Dr. Melbourne's lab assistant) who claimed she HAD to see us right away, and when we got there... well, let's just say I think something is REALLY wrong with her...

So now here we are, a month later, and to top it all off we recently made what I think may have been a bad decision by going back to the Cascade Forest Research Center for... well, watch and see.

It seems we really may be in over our heads, but we're in too deep to stop now. I know there will be another video case file... so stay tuned!

Where has Dewey been?

Hello everyone!

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted to the web blog but that’s not due to lack of activity! Even though Jeff continues to protest as well push forward, it is clear we are on to something big and I think it is crucial to get to the bottom of it.

Let’s review how things have gone down over the last couple of months: Ever since the Forest Ecology team at the Cascade Forest Research Center started breaking down the surrounding forest into a ‘scientific grid’, the area known as Sunken Valley - which translates to grid section D-14 and the surrounding cells on any standard CFRC geological map - has been producing odd botanical and organic samples, strange noises and feedback whines, and is virtually impossible to access on foot.

I don’t think anyone from the CFRC has been able to penetrate that actual grid cell since we started our forest studies, but Jeff and I have been ordered on a number of occasions to try and clear a path so Arnie can, at the very least, set up his monitoring systems and it has just not been easy. Couple that with Jeff getting nailed on the back with some huge log, and a mutated fungus infecting people’s flesh back at Pacific Cascade University, and I worry sometimes that we may be in over our heads.

Rudolph, the paranormal bookstore owner, was helpful - if not a little frustrating. I’m not sure I forgive him yet for sending us to the home of a madman who tried to kill us, even if Ingevald offered some additional insight.

Speaking of ‘fungus flesh eating bacteria’ as Joyce so lovingly put it, despite Dr. Melbourne’s assurances that Linda is going to be OK I feel obligated to send her a note or some balloons or something. And speaking of Dr. Melbourne I can’t say I support her ‘lab test’, but she’s my superior and, for now, I’m going to let it go in favor of some additional research I’d like to do.

I have an interview with Stephens Logging soon - Brian Stephens is Brittney Stephens older brother and Brittney, of course, works at the CFRC as the botany specialist for the Forest Ecology Team. I am anxious to see what Brian has to offer regarding his experiences in the deep woods.

So I knew there might be some backlash when Jeff and I started up this investigation, but DAMN, these people at the CFRC have no sense of humor. I take that back. They have no sense of anything. We're trying to do something good here, not make fun of them. And we're not trying to screw up their research station. Far from it. Anyway - that's not why I'm making this entry. I was doing some more digging and I found this website that... well, you need to check it out for yourself. The guy comes across like a total nutjob, but I think he might actually have some good information. Jeff's been giving me a lot of grief lately after our last video segment, but maybe we should try to find this Ingevald dude and ask him some questions. The penalties of hubris

Okay, it's possible we may have stepped into something a lot more complicated than I first expected. First I should clear the air: I am not ready to say that there is any sort of cover-up going on at the CFRC. But I am worried that the rest of the team may be poking around things that could get them hurt. And I really hope my own poking around hasn't made things worse. Here's the deal: about a week ago Jeff and I put together our first Video Case File. It was supposed to be fairly simple and straightforward, but when we got out into the field some really strange sh*t happened. The video is up for viewing on our website: www.forestsofmystery.com and if you haven't seen it yet you should check it out. Especially toward the end. I have no idea what happened, but I'm trying to go through the footage on my laptop to see if I can slow it down or zoom in or something. In the meantime, for all of you who emailed and asked... Jeff is just fine. He got a good bruise, but he's okay. He and I both agree we have to keep going with this - No giving up! Thanks for your support and stay tuned!

"There are times when men of good purpose must stand up and be counted." I have no idea who said that -- or even if anybody said it, but that's the way I'm feeling right now and that's why I set up this web blog. There are things happening at the Cascade Forest Research Center that need to be talked about. Now don't get me wrong - I am absolutely NOT trying to get anybody in hot water, and I am NOT a whistle-blower. Well, maybe just a little. :) The researchers here are all good guys, but I think a lot of the time they can't see the forest for the trees. And I mean that literally! Anyway, I'm glad you found this space, and I hope to keep you fully updated on what's going on. Spread the word! The truth will out!
